Amaç
Our project aimed to deepen young people’s understanding of media literacy, given its essential role in shaping the evaluation of economic, social, cultural, and political dimensions. Our primary motivation stemmed from the limited presence of media literacy education and the scarcity of efforts to extend this knowledge to broader audiences. Media literacy has required individuals to develop critical skills that foster conscious, discerning media engagement.
Through this project, we have bridged the gap between media literacy and critical thinking, ultimately providing a comprehensive perspective for participants. Our objectives included:
Educating young individuals on media literacy, equipping them with foundational knowledge.
Promoting awareness and encouraging innovative approaches to media literacy among youth.
Enhancing young people's critical thinking abilities and understanding of personal privacy.
Fostering the perception of media as an entry point for exploring new ideas on knowledge, culture, and national identity.
Securing project sustainability by embedding diverse knowledge and perspectives in young minds, ensuring long-term impact.

Each day's schedule comprised a variety of activities designed to engage and educate participants on media literacy in both structured and interactive formats. These activities included orientation exercises and group dynamics sessions to foster collaboration and understanding. Participants also took part in discussions on project guidelines, shared fears and expectations, and explored strategies for avoiding media illiteracy. In-depth explorations of concepts such as Media, Society, and Culture provided a theoretical foundation for practical tasks.
Hands-on activities included preliminary preparations for street events, where participants collaborated on group tasks, surveys, and interviews. Creative projects, such as poster design and short film, allowed for self-expression while raising media literacy awareness. Interactions with local residents added an experiential learning component, with participants conducting inquiries to engage with the community directly.
The program featured an NGO Fair, encouraging participants to connect with organizations active in media and social advocacy. Other major activities included designing questionnaires, producing a short film to promote media literacy, and writing project content. Daily reviews and Youthpass presentations ensured consistent feedback and documentation of learning outcomes. Cultural exchange evenings highlighted the diversity of the group, enhancing mutual understanding and respect.
The project brought together 55 official participants from seven countries, all aged between 16 and 30, with each country represented by a facilitator without an age limit. Participants came from diverse social, physical, geographical, and economic backgrounds, ensuring a rich exchange of perspectives. Facilitators and policymakers with specialized knowledge in media literacy provided expert guidance, adding depth to the project activities and enhancing the overall impact. We also had our volunteers to help the facilitators with the activities.
Sonuçlar
Our project achieved significant results in raising awareness and promoting conscious media literacy among young participants. Through the knowledge gained, participants have become more discerning media consumers, equipped with critical skills to recognize biases and inaccuracies. This training heightened their media awareness and fostered critical thinking about content they encounter.
The project extended beyond individual impact by reaching local communities, leaving positive impressions and promoting broader media literacy awareness. This influence enabled local people to engage more thoughtfully with media content and contributed to addressing media literacy as a growing societal issue in Europe and globally. The project empowered young people to approach media reliably, fostering investigative habits that encourage lifelong learning and accurate information acquisition. Participants have committed to sharing their insights with peers and institutions in their home countries, expanding the project’s impact through this continued dissemination of knowledge.
Additional impacts include:
Technological Impact: Participants developed an investigative mindset, prompting them to seek accurate information throughout their lives. By sharing what they learned during and after the project, they have amplified its influence within their social and professional networks.
Environmental Impact: Participants were encouraged to choose environmentally conscious modes of transport and adopt sustainable behaviors. Regular coaching has helped them become more aware of reducing their carbon footprint, guiding them toward lifelong environmental responsibility.
Social Impact: During the ten-day interaction, participants engaged in activities fostering inclusivity and socialization, discouraging discrimination based on religion, language, race, and socio-economic status. This approach cultivated an environment of mutual respect and understanding.
Organizational Impact: The project facilitated the creation of new institutional partnerships, expanding the European network and enabling the exchange of best practices. Local communities also benefited from increased media literacy awareness, fostering positive changes at the grassroots level.
Through these efforts, our project has contributed to a more informed, environmentally conscious, and inclusive generation prepared to engage critically with media and influence their communities positively.
