Amaç

The "MindGym: Gamified Challenges in Problem-Solving"; project was launched in response to the growing recognition that youth education needs to evolve beyond traditional methods. With increasing global complexity, young people face challenges that require not just theoretical knowledge but adaptive problem- solving, digital fluency, collaboration, and emotional intelligence. This project was designed to use gamification—a technique integrating game elements into non- game contexts—as a tool for stimulating interest, fostering innovation, and enhancing engagement in youth education.
The objectives were multifold:
– To create inclusive and innovative learning environments through gamified approaches.
– To strengthen critical and creative thinking skills among youth.
– To promote intercultural awareness and cooperation through international teamwork.
– To build the capacity of youth workers in designing and delivering non-formal education.
– To contribute to digital transformation in youth work through the integration of ICT tools

Uygulama

The “MindGym: Gamified Challenges in Problem-Solving” project was implemented through a carefully planned sequence of preparatory, educational, and dissemination activities, all designed to promote youth engagement, intercultural exchange, and skills development using gamification methods.
The core activity was a short-term youth mobility hosted in Azerbaijan. This mobility brought together 36 participants in total, including 30 young people aged 18–25 and 6 group leaders/youth workers from six different countries: Lithuania, Spain, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Moldova, and Ukraine. Participants came from diverse social and economic backgrounds, with several representing disadvantaged groups, including those facing fewer opportunities due to geographic, economic, or educational limitations.
Main activities included:
• Ice-breaker and team-building sessions to foster trust, cooperation, and intercultural understanding.
• A series of gamified workshops focused on critical thinking, creativity, and collaborative problem-solving. Participants engaged in real-life inspired challenges, such as simulated crisis management, innovation labs, and “escape room” style learning games.
• Digital skill-building activities using mobile applications and online tools to complete tasks in groups, enhancing both ICT competence and teamwork.
• Cultural exchange evenings where each national team presented their traditions, music, and food, promoting mutual respect and diversity.
• Daily reflection circles and Youthpass workshops to help participants internalize what they had learned and document their progress.
• Final evaluation and feedback sessions, including the co-creation of a “MindGym Toolkit” containing exercises and methods for wider use.
All activities were delivered in English, with support provided for participants with limited language proficiency. The program was inclusive, accessible, and balanced between structured learning and informal interaction. Youth workers acted as facilitators, mentors, and safety coordinators throughout the mobility.
In addition to the main mobility, the partner organizations implemented preparation and follow-up activities in their local contexts. These included selection and training of participants, promotion of the project, and local dissemination events following the mobility experience.
